I am also having this issue. Some things to note:

Bug only happens on Chrome. Firefox loads the game just fine.
Bug only happens with the MW expansion. Regular Ark Nova works fine on Chrome.
Chrome Version: Version 132.0.6834.160

I have been having this same issue for a while, currently at table 630174303. A Marine Worlds game won't load on Chrome V126 on my Chromebook. (But will load just fine on mobile.) It isn't all Marine Worlds games, and it will start affecting a game in the middle (so tied to a card?). My competitors and I are all playing in English.

I have found a consistent work around. When Chrome becomes unresponsive (as in the screenshot), I open another of my asynch game of (non-Marine Worlds) Ark Nova, let it load, and then go to the previously crashed Marine Worlds game. It will open just fine. But next time that Marine Worlds game turn comes around, unless I happen to click through from a functioning Ark Nova game, Chrome will become unresponsive again.

Just started again with game 636736084. It had been working fine on Chrome, and today it stopped. Still works fine on mobile.

I am experiencing the same as described above. game table 6/arknova?table=643975071. This is the 3rd time this has happened to me.
Oddly though, my husband is playing the same table as I am (every time I have had the problem) and he has never had loading problems.

I am getting the same problem with table #675791251 which is a Marine Worlds game. It hangs at the start saying "Opening the game box". This happens with Google Chrome v126 on a Chromebook. The game loads ok on my phone using Safari so I used that to take my turn.

I tried loading my game on a different Chromebook and it worked.That was using Version 136.0.7103.142 (Official Build) (64-bit).

I updated Chrome on the Chromebook with the Ark Nova loading fault and it's on Chrome v132 now but still doesn't work.

When trying to view third party Ark Nova games on that machine I got a more detailed message during the loading. It said "Loading game art (10%) -- Error loading the game -- we have been notified".

My impression is that it's a caching/cookie problem and so I deleted all the browser's cached files and all the cookies for BGA. I then rebotted but the problem still recurs.

Meanwhile I can still play my game fine on the other Chromebook. Or on my phone using Safari. There must still be something corrupt on the system with the problem.

Continuing my troubleshooting, I started a solo game of Ark Nova without the Marine expansion. This loaded ok. I was then able to use the next table button to go to the Marine game which won't otherwise load on this machine. This confirms the workround suggested by BootyMFG above.

Using such workrounds, I got the game on table #675791251 finished. This seems to have cleared the problem with other games. I started a solo game with the Marine expansion ok. And I can now spectate the game which gave the error loading the game art.

Please let keep that as a single bug report. As said in the main report, the issue is most likely a weird interaction with translation, try switching your playing language to english as a workaround
