papayoo
Get rid of your Payoo!
There are no jacks, queens or kings in Papayoo – just an unusual die and a fifth suit called Payoo. The aim is to score the fewest points possible; to do so, try to avoid collecting those dreadful Payoos and especially the Papayoo, that confounded 7, whose suit changes with each new hand. That cursed die!
If you are unhappy with your hand, don't fret; just give your hand to the player on your left before starting. Be sure to make the right choice because you'll be getting the player's cards on your right. Then play your hand with no trumps or qualms. The best player doesn't always win!

Кароткія правілы
Components – The game represent a set of 40 cards of 4 suits (hearts, diamonds, clubs, spades), numbered from 1 to 10, a set of 20 Payo cards, numbered from 1 to 20, and a one 8-sided die.
Value of cards - Payo card gives from 1 to 20 points, according to its number. One "seven" of one of four suits is a Papayo card and it changes every round depending on the die roll. Papayo card brings 40 points. Other cards do not bring points.
The goal of the game is to score as few points as possible.
Distribution of cards - Players receive cards, according to the table below:
Number of players | Cards that you need to remove before the start | Number of cards in each player hand | To Discard |
3 | None | 20 (6x3 + 1x2) | 5 |
4 | None | 15 (5x3) | 5 |
5 | None | 12 (4x3) | 4 |
6 | None | 10 (3x3 + 1x1) | 3 |
7 | "1" of each suit: clubs, diamonds, hearts and spades | 8 (2x3 + 1x2) | 3 |
8 | 7 (2x3 + 1x1) | 3 |
(Example: with three players, the dealer gives to each player three cards six times, and then again on 2 cards each.)
With seven or eight members, from the deck all "one" cards are withdraw before the distribution.
Discarding - After sorting their cards, players can start discarding them. Each player discards a card of his choice. He takes out the number of cards indicated in the table and puts them in front of the player to his left, face down. This must be done before you look at the cards that the player put to him on the right.
Papayo - After the discard, the dealer rolls a die to find out the suit of the Papayo card. (Example: if there are peaks on the dice, the “seven” peak becomes papayo card for this round and brings 40 points)
Round/hand - The dealer takes the first turn, laying out in the centre of the table a card of his choice from his hand. Players, clockwise, lay out cards that are the same in suit with the first (however, the player is not required to play with a card with a number greater than the previous one). Payo cards are considered the 5th suit, along with others. If the player does not have a suitable suit, he puts the card of his choice. The player who plays the card with the highest number of this suit collects the discarded cards and starts another play. If no player has put the card “in suit”, the cards are taken by the player who put the first card. After the last card was played, players count the points scored. Each Payo card brings points written on the card. Each Papayo card gives 40 points. The remaining cards do not bring points. The total number of points in the round should be equal to 250. Earned points are added to those received earlier.
